HSBC Easy Pay has been integrated with FPS to make your interbank transfers easier than ever. In addition to sending money to someone via their mobile number, FPS lets you send money to people or merchants via other Proxy IDs, such as their email address or FPS Identifier, or by scanning their QR code. You can also use these Proxy IDs to transfer larger amounts via 'Transfer' on the HSBC HK Mobile Banking app.
What is FPS?
FPS is a payment service platform that allows customers to make instant domestic payments to individuals and merchants in Hong Kong dollar or Renminbi via our online and mobile banking. It will be available 24/7, free of charge and covering participating local banks and financial institutes with Stored Value Facility (SVF) licenses.
Traditionally, fund transfers require the payee’s bank account number, but FPS also supports payments via payee’s mobile number, email address or FPS Identifiers, as well as QR code scanning after the payee has registered.
Is FPS replacing Easy Pay or traditional transfer?
FPS is an enhancement of Easy Pay because you can send money to people even if they are not HSBC or Hang Seng Bank customers. In addition to sending money to someone via their mobile number, FPS lets you send money to people or merchants via other Proxy IDs, such as their email address or FPS Identifier, or by scanning their QR code. You can also use these Proxy IDs to transfer larger amounts via 'Move Money' on the Personal Internet Banking or 'Transfer' on the HSBC HK Mobile Banking app.
