1. Can I join HSBC Trade25?

You can join HSBC Trade25 if you're aged between 18 and 25. You'll also enjoy access to our Trade25 Academy so you can learn more about stock trading. It's part of our commitment to helping young millennials like you build your wealth and a healthy diversified portfolio.

2. How does a joint account work with HSBC Trade25?

Both the principal and secondary account holders will enjoy zero brokerage fees on a trading volume under HKD250,000 each month. All trades made will count towards the principal account holder's trading amount. Once the monthly trading amount exceeds HKD250,000, all joint account holders will have to pay the standard brokerage fee for subsequent trades.

For example, A has a sole investment account and a joint investment account. A joins HSBC Trade25 using the joint investment account, for which B is the secondary account holder. All trades made by A or B will count towards A's trading amount, including any trades A makes under their sole account. Both A and B won't need to pay any brokerage fees unless the trading amount exceeds HKD250,000. In which case, both A and B will need to pay the standard brokerage fee for subsequent trades made under their joint account, and A will also need to do so for subsequent trades made under their sole account.

3. Can I join HSBC Top Trader Club and HSBC Trade25 at the same time?

No, unfortunately you can only be a member of either programme at any one time. If you're currently in the HSBC Top Trader Club, you'll need to opt out of it first before you can join HSBC Trade25.

4. What will happen if I opt out of HSBC Trade25?

Once you opt out, you'll need to pay fees according to our standard tariff for any trades you make via the HSBC HK Mobile Banking app, HSBC HK Easy Invest app or HSBC Online Banking:

Hong Kong stocks and China A shares: 0.25%
US stocks: USD18 on your first 1,000 shares, USD0.015 per subsequent share

5. Will I be charged for opting out of HSBC Trade25?

No, you won't be charged a penalty fee for opting out of HSBC Trade25.

6. What happens when I turn 26?

We're working to extend HSBC Trade25 for customers already joined and turning 26. For now, if you reach 26 after joining HSBC Trade25, you can continue to enjoy the benefits. We'll notify you in advance if you can't stay in HSBC Trade25 anymore.

1. Why do I need to pay HKD25 every month?

You'll only need to pay HKD25 for each month that you hold or trade stocks with us. For the price of a bubble tea each month, you'll be able to trade Hong Kong, US, and China A shares securely and conveniently.

2. When will I need to pay the HKD25 monthly fee?

You'll need to pay a monthly fee of HKD25 for each account you used to trade or hold stocks with us in the 1-month period on or before the 1st of the following month.

This fee is due and payable on or before the 20th of the following month on a day determined by us from time to time. If that day falls on the 1st of the month and is not a business day, we may collect the fee on the next business day. The fee is also payable upon closure if you close the account before the payment date.

3. Do I still need to pay the HKD25 if I didn't trade any stocks in the month?

If you still held stocks with us in the month, you'll need to pay the HKD25 monthly fee even if you didn't make a trade.

But if you didn't make any trades or hold any stocks with us in the month, you won't be charged this fee.

4. Do I need to pay any regulatory fees?

Yes, you'll still need to pay regulatory fees when you trade Hong Kong, US or China A shares.

5. Will these regulatory fees be on my contract notes?

Yes, the regulatory fees will be reflected on your contract notes when you place a trade via the HSBC HK Mobile Banking app, HSBC HK Easy Invest app or HSBC Online Banking.

6. Are there any hidden fees?

No, simply pay a monthly fee of HKD25 to start trading stocks without any hidden platform fees.

1. What counts towards my monthly trading amount?

All the trades you've made in a month across Hong Kong, US and China A shares markets count towards your monthly trading amount—including ETFs, warrants and CBBCs. Only trades made via the HSBC HK Mobile Banking app, HSBC HK Easy Invest app or HSBC Online Banking are counted.

As long as your monthly trading amount stays under HKD250,000, you won't need to pay any brokerage fees for trading.

2. Are initial public offering (IPO) subscriptions, Stocks Monthly Investment Plan (SMIP) transactions and margin trading counted towards my trading amount?

No, IPO and SMIP transactions, and investments made via our Securities Margin Trading Service are not counted.

3. What if my trading amount exceeds HKD250,000 in a month?

You'll need to pay the standard brokerage fee for all subsequent trades. Please refer to the HSBC Trade25 product factsheets for more details.

To keep track of your monthly trading amount, you can log on to the HSBC HK Easy Invest app and go to the Trade25 homepage. It refreshes at least once every 15 minutes.

All US stocks and China A shares transactions are converted to HKD from their respective currencies.

4. Will my trading amount reset each month?

Yes, your trading amount will be reset to zero on the 1st day of each month. If you opt out of HSBC Trade25 and opt back in within the same month, your monthly trading amount will be the same as when you opted out.

5. If I make a trade on the last day of a month, will it count towards that month of the following month?

We count it towards whichever month your order was successfully executed. So if you successfully executed a trade order on the last day of January, it will count towards your trading amount for January.
