Severe Weather Trading
Starting from 23 September 2024, Hong Kong securities (including Northbound Trading under China Connect) and derivatives markets trading, clearing and settlement services on a severe weather trading day will remain the same as on a regular trading and settlement day.
Severe weather refers to the scenario where a typhoon signal No. 8 or above and/or a black rainstorm warning is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory, or an “extreme conditions” announcement is made by the HKSAR Government. On such a day, you may continue to trade HK listed securities, China Connect securities or apply for an HK IPO via your Trading Advisor, HSBC Broking Internet Trading Platform or HSBC Broking Mobile Trading App.
You are reminded to arrange funding and set proper transfer limit for money transfer in advance for trading on a severe weather trading day to meet your trading needs, clearing, settlement or margin obligations (if applicable) in a timely manner. Margin call and forced liquidation is applicable on a severe weather trading day. More details can also be found from the website of HKEX.
